Communications Director, Catalist
Aaron Huertas is a communications professional who works with scientists, advocacy organizations, and campaigns. He serves as the communications director at Catalist, a progressive data utility that maintains the longest-running voter file outside the major parties. Catalist works exclusively with unions, progressive groups and Democratic campaigns and is the only unionized data firm in its field (Catalist Union, Communication Workers of America Local 2336).
Huertas previously served as the communications director for the U.S. House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and has worked for Swing Left, NextGen, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and several other organizations as a staffer and consultant. He is an associate member of the Campaign Workers Guild. In addition to his professional work, he has participated in direct action campaigns and volunteered at protests in DC, with a focus on safety and medical care for demonstrators.
He is originally from Forked River, New Jersey and is currently splitting his time between Washington, DC and Lewes, Delaware. He is a graduate of The George Washington University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in political communication and holds a certification in bike repair and shop operations from the United Bicycle Institute in Ashland, Oregon.
